The Story of a Jeweler: Jennifer Lawler Designs

I love to create jewelry that is fun and unique but still very wearable. I have always had a passion for creating pieces as far back as the age of 10 or 11. I studied craft design with an emphasis in jewelry at Drake University, The University of Iowa, and Iowa State. After graduation I was able to work for a contemporary goldsmith for over 12 years learning about gemstones and perfecting my technical skills.

I love to work with sterling silver along with yellow and white gold. I also love to use gemstones in my pieces accented by different textures and finishes. I am always inspired while creating my pieces, forming the metals and what might work well with the certain gemstone I am working with. I am also inspired by the architecture all around me, bringing in angles and shapes that are very contemporary.

I have been working in my own studio now for the last 5 years, creating pieces for my Etsy website, several different galleries that sell my work, and the art shows that I participate in.

I have predominantly shown my work in local shows to me within Iowa, such as the Iowa City Arts Festival, the Midwest Artsfest, The Octogan Arts Festival, and the College Hill Arts Festival.
